Zilla Bait Hering Brine Curing Instructions

HERRING CURE / BRINE INSTRUCTIONS

The Perfect Brine Every Time

Method 1: In a one gallon container, add 2 quarts of purified, non-chlorinated water (river water is best but distilled water will work) to 1-1/2 to 2 cups of Zilla Bait Herring Cure and stir until dissolved. Add 1 to 3 dozen bait, cover and refrigerate. Your bait will be ready to fish after 4 hours and will keep (refrigerated or on ice) for up to a week.

Method 2 (Dry Brine Method): Place fresh, quality bait in a zip-lock bag or a container and sprinkle directly with Zilla Bait Herring Cure. If you are using a colored bait cure, add just enough water to get the dye to circulate around the bait. Let sit, refrigerated for 4 hours before fishing. Like method 1 above, your bait will keep (refrigerated or on ice) for up to a week.

Cure Instructions:

Same as method 1 above, but add equal amount (1-1/2 to 2 cups) sugar to water along with ZillaBait Herring Cure then proceed in same manner, but let sit in refrigerator for 12 hours before ready to fish. Bait will keep (refrigerated or on ice) for up to a week.

Note: For best results, always start with a quality herring, anchovy or sardine. If using frozen bait, thaw until it separates easily before starting the cure process.
